P360 Performance Sports announced today it has added a baseball academy with the acquisition of the Sports Academy in Opelika, which serves Auburn and the surrounding area in east Alabama. The new facility adds to the P360 footprint including facilities in Jackson, Hattiesburg, Opelika AL and the recently announced purchase of 27 acres on the Ross Barnett Reservoir to construct a new training center and tournament baseball fields.
Founded by former Auburn Tiger Mark Fuller, the Sports Academy has been providing training and baseball instruction for 16 years in Opelika, adding extensive experience to the P360 and SBG Sox Baseball management team.
Fuller is a graduate of Auburn University, where he was a 4-year letterman on the Tigers baseball team, graduating in 1992. He played professionally in the Mets and Rockies organizations for five years, reaching the AAA level. Fuller served as the Pitching Coach and Recruiter at North Carolina State University before joining the Auburn staff as the pitching coach. Coaching at the college level for seven years, Fuller coached 11 players to move to the professional level.
Fuller is a Sports Performance Specialist and is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). He also holds certification as a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES). Training and developing hundreds of athletes of all ages, Fuller also serves as the Color Commentator for the Auburn Tigers on ESPN.
The location will be rebranded as P360 Performance Sports, adding the nationally recognized SBG Sox baseball and softball programs to the facility. SBG Sox teams will be added from the ages of 8U - 17U, bringing its facility-driven model to produce quality teams with a player development focus to drive every player to reach his or her full potential. SBG Sox teams are coached by experienced former players from the college and professional baseball ranks, producing state and national champions in USSSA, Perfect Game and PBR events and more, with over 800 players that have participated in its programs moving on to play beyond high school. In 2020, the Southeast Collegiate League was added, with teams formed in Jackson, Hattiesburg and Baton Rouge. For 2021, the league is expanding its footprint in the southeast to provide a competitive, quality league for all players with NCAA eligibility. The SBG Sox High School Showcase Program will be hosting tryouts for high school players graduating in the years 2022-2025.
