SBG Sox Weekend Round Up - October 5th

SBG Sox Youth Teams were in action, taking the field in the comfortable weather of the first weekend of October...

SBG Sox 14U Brown, coached by former Belhaven catcher Jason Brown, remained a perfect 9-0 on the Fall season coming away with the Grand Slam Beating Breast Cancer Championship at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. 14U Brown took the #1 seed in pool play decisively, defeating the Simpson County Cardinals 12-3, then dispatching the Mizuno Golden Spikes in a 3 inning, 15-0 run rule game. Both teams kept the score there until the bottom of the 6th, when the Sox scored 2 runs to win the game with a bases loaded walk to Veshone Malone with one out. Jed Welch pitched 5 innings in the game allowing only 2 hits and no runs. He recorded 2 strikeouts and issued one walk with 51 pitches.
