Sox Baseball and Softball Tryouts Update

The response to the upcoming tryouts for Sox Baseball and Softball teams has been very robust. To accommodate all players and their families, and to provide the quality evaluation for every player, P360 has made some modifications to the tryout schedule. Additionally, for counties that are under the new restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, other modifications have been made to adhere to those restrictions.

Jackson Area

Sox Baseball and Softball Tryouts will be held at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. To adhere to the new restrictions that were effective July 13, tryouts for each time slot are limited to 80 players (20 players per field). Please wear turf shoes for the tryout, and all players MUST bring their own water or sport drink. Players cannot congregate together as Sox staff will work to keep players distanced from each other.

What to Expect at a Sox Team Tryout

It's going to be hot. We set times to accommodate families while working to stay out of the hottest part of the day. Players need to pace themselves, drink plenty of water and take time to rest between station. There will be many coaches and staff watching you - no playing around, wasting time and energy. If you have any questions please ask any staff member.

Sox Tryouts are full evaluations, giving every player the opportunity to showcase their skills.

60 Yard Dash

Players can attend all stations, or only the stations that they want an evaluation.

Coaches for all age groups will be evaluating players. Each age group has existing teams that may be adding players, and new teams are formed as well based on the number of players in each age group. Coaches can offer players a position on a team at any time. Parents can talk to the coach about the offer after the tryout has ended. Offers are extended by sending a text to the cell phone number on file from the registration....the offer is good for 24 hours and is accepted by sending back the player's name and a thumbs up. Once the offer is accepted, parents will receive an email with information about signing up for Sox Baseball and Softball teams.

Sox Team players sign a 12-month contract, committing to their team from September 2020 - August 2021. This commitment allows Sox to keep rosters at a minimum for proper development and playing time. Teams will play tournaments in the Fall, and hold practice in one of our facilities as well as outside on fields. The months of November and December allow for players to practice at their leisure, with practices held optional for each player. The teams establish their own schedule for the Spring and Summer, generally playing 10-12 tournaments. All games are scored with GameChanger, with stats and games accumulated and stored on each teams unique web page.

As a member of the Sox organization, players can use facilities for hitting, fielding and pitching by reserving a cage at no additional cost. Sox players can attend Daily Classes held Monday - Thursday each week, as many as they want to attend, at no additional cost. Classes include instruction for Hitting, Batting, Fielding and Pitching. Private, one-on-one instruction is available to Sox players at reduced rates with any of our Professional Staff in Baseball and Softball. For Pitchers, players can join the Pitching Program in their location for both sports - a unique program developed by our pitching staff under the guidance of our medical advisors. For Hitters, a unique Progressive Hitting Group Program is available, our most popular program that provides a station-to-station approach for players to gain instruction and advice as they progress through the stations, administered by our Professional Staff.

Sox coaches have all played at a high level, providing a player's perspective to the game. Coaches for both baseball and softball played college, with many playing professionally, including former major league players. The coaches are members of the Sox staff and many provide professional training in our facilities.

Organized by former Ole Miss All American and Chicago White Sox infielder Chris Snopek, the Sox organization is nationally recognized for player development and advancement. Over 800 players have moved on to college or professional baseball from P360 and Sox programs over the last 19 years. With the permission of MLB and the Chicago White Sox, the logos for Sox teams represent excellence, including the White Sox batterman and SOX script that is universally known.

The mission of P360 Performance Sports, through its highly successful Sox programs, is to provide a platform for boys and girls to reach their full potential in the hardest sports to play. The tough lessons of baseball and softball provide a classroom for life, and Sox coaches are excellent teachers. To reach every player that wants to play these sports, P360 Performance Sports never excludes a player because of the cost. The Chicago White Sox, along with our corporate partners provide scholarship opportunities to players and their families that would not otherwise be able to afford to play on a Sox team. These scholarships are discreet, without intrusive qualifications. Covering a portion of the cost, these scholarships have helped hundreds of families participate in baseball and softball, proudly wearing their Sox jersey on the field.
