SBG Sox and Youth Programs Announce Team Tryout Dates
P360 Performance Sports announced its tryout dates today for its youth and high school showcase programs. Tryouts will be held in both the Jackson and Hattiesburg markets on the same dates. Entering its 13th season, Sox programs put 38 teams on the field for the 2019-2020 season from the ages of 8-17. The Southeast Collegiate League debuted this summer with college players competing in Jackson, Hattiesburg and Baton Rouge. For the 2020-2021 season 50 teams are planned as a total for all locations. Sox baseball has won back-to-back PG WWBA National Championships, Grand Slam World Series and almost 30 state championships with hundreds of tournament victories. Focused on unique developmental programs that include the Pitching Programs for both baseball and softball, individual and group progressive hitting and catching programs along with infield development held in our facilities, all instructors and coaches are experienced and played the game at a high level. Most have played college baseball with many former professional players on staff.
Players that attend tryouts can be offered at any time during their tryout, which will last up to two hours as players run the 60 yard dash, are evaluated with infield and outfield drills as well as hitting - with exit velocity and live hitting. Pitchers are measured for mechanical delivery and velocity. If a player is offered to join the Sox family, his offer will be guaranteed for 24 hours. Jackson Area
Sox Baseball and Softball Tryouts will be held at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. To adhere to the new restrictions that were effective July 13, tryouts for each time slot are limited to 80 players (20 players per field). Please wear turf shoes for the tryout, and all players MUST bring their own water or sport drink. Players cannot congregate together as Sox staff will work to keep players distanced from each other.

Youth players will be classified by the age that they will be on May 1, 2021. In youth baseball, the grade level that they are attending is also taken into consideration under certain circumstances. SBG Sox players are classified by their graduation year.
Registration for tryouts begin today, and can be accepted up to the day before the tryout. It is important if possible to register - walk ups are welcome but they will not be on all evaluation sheets that are generated the night before the event. Registration is $20 and is non-refundable. Players can attend more than one event, with any subsequent event at no charge.
