Sox Softball Adds Bailie Springfield to Pitching Staff

Sox Softball Director Haley Sones announced today the addition of Southern Miss Pitcher Bailie Springfield as the Sox Softball Pitching Director.

Springfield has developed a comprehensive pitching program to develop softball players with mechanical and skills instruction. This unique program will provide professional training through a monthly program that includes weekly pitching sessions, combined with a weekly group meeting to understand all facets of softball pitching. The players progress through the program, with their progress tracked and measured as they advance.

Springfield is a native of Mantee, MS and a 2016 graduate from East Webster High School. She lettered six times, winning the MHSAA 2A Fastpitch titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015. She picked another title in Slowpitch, winning the MHSAA championship in 2014. A member of the Clarion Ledger's Dandy Dozen in 2016, Springfield earned the MHSAA 2A Pitcher of the Year; NEMCABB All Star MVP Defensive Player; North MS Fastpitch Player of the Year; named Starkville Daily News Player of the Year four times. She won honors as an All-District, All-Area and All-State player four times as well. She played in both the MAC Fastpitch and Slowpitch All-Star Games as well as the NEMCABB Fastpitch All-Star Game.

After a stellar high school career Springfield signed a scholarship to play with Delta State University, leading all pitchers for the Lady Statesmen with eight wins in her freshman campaign. She was named the Green and White Awards Top Newcomer, finishing the season with the 11th best ERA in the Gulf South Conference and the 6th best Batting Average Against.

Transferring to Itawamba CC for her sophomore season saw Springfield become the first player in ICC history to win 20 games, finishing as the all time wins leader in school history. Her record setting season earned a bevy of awards, including being named an All-American by the NCFA, NJCAA and FastPitch News. She was also named the MACJC Pitcher of the Year, NJCAA Pitcher of the weeks twice, MACJC Pitcher of the Week three times, and Fastpitch News National Pitcher of the Week. Springfield was ranked in the FloSoftball JUCO 2018 Hot 100 while being named to the NFCA South All-Region team, NJCAA All-Region team and the 2018 MACJC All-State team.

Earning a scholarship with the Southern Miss Golden Eagles for her final two seasons, Springfield was a member of one of the best teams in history, as the Golden Eagles won 30 games on their way to advancing to the C-USA Tournament for the first time since 2016.
