SOX PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

Eli Tacker 

Team: EC Sox 11U

                                                              Congratulations to Eli Tacker, selected as Dick's Sporting Goods Sox Spotlight Player.

Eli is a student at Tri County Academy , and started playing baseball when he was 6. He is currently playing on the EC Sox 11U team coached by Gary Thomas and Joseph McCaskill. Eli's favorite MLB team is the San Francisco Giants and his favorite players are Buster Posey ,Clayton Kershaw and Hunter Strickland. Eli intends to play baseball for the MSU Bulldogs when he finishes high school, and continue hitting homers as a major leaguer. If that doesn't work out he will become a lawyer. 

Eli had an amazing weekend in tournament play, hitting 6-10 for a .600 batting average. He had 5 RBI as he launched his first official home run. On the mound, Eli pitched 5.1 innings with 7 strikeouts, allowing only 3 earned runs. On the season Eli is batting .371 and with the homer is now slugging .486. In 16.1 innings of mound work he has recorded 20 strikeouts with a 5.143 ERA. 

CONGRATULATIONS again to Eli Tacker, a Dick's Sporting Goods Sox Spotlight Player. Eli has earned a $20 certificate from Dick's for his efforts. Way to go Eli !

Alex Lambert

Team: EC Sox 10U 

Coach: Ross Mitchell

Congratulations to Alex Lambert, selected as Dick's Sporting Goods Sox Spotlight Player.

Alex has been playing baseball since he was 4, currently playing on the EC Sox 10U team coached by Ross Mitchell. Alex's favorite MLB team is the New York Yankees, and his favorite player is Gary Sanchez. Alex is a big fan of the LSU Tigers, where he hopes to play one day as he prepares for a career as a professional baseball player. 

Alex earned his Spotlight award on the mound this past weekend, pitching 4.2 innings with 4 strikeouts and a 2.57 ERA. For the 2018 season, Alex has pitched 10.2 innings for his Sox team, with 7 strikeouts and a 3.93 ERA in six games.

JC Garrard

Pillow Academy Greenville MS

Team: EC Sox 13U 

Coach: Gerard Gibert

Congratulations to JC Garrard, selected as a Dick's Sporting Goods Sox Spotlight Player this March.

 

Braxton has been playing baseball for 9 years, starting when he was 4 years old, and attends Pillow Academy in Greenwood MS. His favorite MLB team is the Texas Rangers, and he is very serious about his team. In fact, his dad has to order an MLB package every season so JC never misses a game. His favorite MLB player is Adrian Beltre .

JC is a huge fan of Mississippi State University, and intends to play baseball for the Bulldogs on his way to playing professional baseball. 

JC had a fantastic tournament this weekend in Flowood, going 6-10 in 5 games for a .600 average. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice. For the season JC is batting .375 in 69 plate appearances, with 12 RBI and 14 runs scored. JC plays first base and right field, and is always one of the first players to take the field every inning.

Braxton Baudier

Germantown Middle School

Team: EC Sox 13U

Congratulations to Braxton, selected as a Sox Spotlight Player earlier this March.

 

Braxton has been playing baseball for 8 years, starting when he was 5 years old, and attend Germantown Middle School. His favorite MLB team is the Washington Nationals. His favorite MLB player is Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels. Braxton excels at pitching and catching and plays all positions on the field. 

Braxton is a big fan of the LSU Tigers, where he hopes to play baseball while working on his degree in Mechanical Engineering. 

He has pitched 17 innings this season for the EC Sox 13U Gibert team, with 18 strikeouts and a 5.75 ERA. He earned his Spotlight award with a complete game performance against the Madison Rage on March 4th, pitching 5.0 innings while giving up one on three hits and striking out three in an 11-1 victory. That was following a shutout performance against the Warhawks the day before, giving up one hit and no runs while striking out five in three innings of work. For the weekend, Braxton pitched 8.0 innings, allowing only one run on two hits and striking out 8 batters.

Isaiah McClenty

Green Elementary School

Team: EC Sox 9U 

Coach: Blaine Adams

Congratulations to Isaiah, selected as a Sox Spotlight player this Fall. Isaiah was our first unanimous selection as voted on by all Sox coaches. 

Isaiah started playing baseball  at the age of 3 and currently attends Green Elementary School in Jackson , and is a big fan of the Miami Marlins. His favorite position is playing first base, and his favorite player is Giancarlo Stanton. 

Isaiah is a big fan of Mississippi State University hopes to play baseball for the Bulldogs. He is a future fireman, but not before he finishes his professional baseball career.  

This is his first season playing for the Sox, beginning his career a few weeks ago in Winona. However, that was only a tune up as the Sox returned to action in Clinton this past weekend and went undefeated all the way to the Championship. 

At the plate this weekend, Isaiah was 8 for 11 for a .727 batting average, with 6 RBI and 12 runs scored. He pitched 6 1/3 innings, amazingly registering 15 strikeouts over the weekend. For the Fall he is batting .579 with an OPS of 1.404 and a team leading Slugging percentage of .737. Isaiah has a FPS rate of 60% and leads the team with 19 strikeouts.
